So many of my favorite spring flowers are in the purple palette, ranging from the most vibrant hues to the softest. I love pansies, violas, violets, lilacs, wisteria and tulips, just to name a few. When I think of these flowers, many images come to mind: Eliza Doolittle with her nosegays of violets in the early morning light of the London flower market; the purple print of the classy, old Bonwit Teller shopping bag; boatloads of pansies and lilacs drifting on the lakes of Kashmir; and my grandmother decorating my birthday cakes with a cluster of violets. These cherished images are the inspiration for my first collection of papers. |
