A Thirst for Adventure
Spring 2008
The opening title of this issue is A Thirst for Adventure where I share with you my sailing adventure around the fabled Cape Horn. After a winter of skiing beautiful snow covered mountains and sailing at below freezing temperatures, I'm now thirsting for spring, warm weather and my garden at Weatherstone. I love every season but spring brings a sign of renewal that -- after a long, long winter -- is such a welcome sight.
Nothing gets your day started like a beautifully organized handbag. I have found lovely leather accessories imported from France, that are elegant, practical, and affordable. What a wonderful gift idea to celebrate a birthday, new job, special project, or Mother's Day.
I start each spring with a promise to myself, and this year it is to return to the art of the handwritten note. In our fast-paced, electronic world, nothing is more welcome than a handwritten letter or thank-you. I hope this story will inspire you to think about writing such a note.
The queen of spring is asparagus. Enjoy the two simple recipes using asparagus and puff pastry. Nothing is easier (and faster) than rolling out a box of puff pastry to wow your guests.
Enjoy the new collection of spring/summer gift wraps and ribbons. Selecting these new patterns for this collection reminded me my old days working for Oscar de la Renta. I use to spend hours looking piles of textiles sorting and organizing them to create collections which were then used as the starting point for clothing and accessories.
We have streamlined our shopping collection to show you everything in one easy click. Rather than shopping by collections, you simply shop by Décor, Gifts, Wraps and Ribbons. I hope you will find this format more user-friendly, with everything accessible in one easy step. Don't forget to take a peak at Fin de Serie which always has new things added at very special prices.
Enjoy spring! I'm on my way out to the garden.
Warm wishes,
