My Favorite Christmas Wreath
I look forward to making a wreath of carnations every year. With a little devotion–misting with water and moving it to a cool place every night–the wreath will last almost two weeks. The effort is small in comparison with the impact of those beautiful reds on the wall.
You’ll need:
Wreath ring of oasis
60 Harvard Red carnations
60 Classic Red carnations
- Soak the oasis in water mixed with a flower preservative and let it drain.
- Cut the stems of the carnations to 2 ½ inches and begin inserting them into the wreath. Alternate the two colors of carnations in an uneven pattern to keep it from looking dotted or static.
- Let the wreath drain for an hour in a sink–otherwise it will drain on your wall.
- Make a colored ribbon bow (I place the bow with a separate wire hook so that I can detach it before misting with water.)
