to the Humane Society or a local pet shelter. Giving a gift in the name of a pet owner to a charity which serves animals in need is always well-received. Proceeds from my summer tag sale were donated to our local pet shelter in Sharon. Start planning your own spring tag sale to lighten the clutter and consider sharing the proceeds with a worthy community organization.
This year I have been working on establishing a foundation to address malaria research. As I learn more about the suffering of so many I find I need to hang on to something to keep the important work of this project moving forward. After a long day of telephone calls and web research nothing is more rewarding than the barks and yelps of the Weatherstone pack to make me smile and energize me for the next day.
The love of my animals is a source of strength, inspiration, and joy for me. The beautiful quote above says it all, so for those of us lucky enough to have these wonderful creatures in our lives, let us all try to live up to their devotion with hugs, tummy rubs, and lots of love and care.

Deck the Halls with Pups and Kittens:
This wreath decorates the most important room at Weatherstone, the Breakfast Room. Every morning I head downstairs for my first cup of coffee, usually tripping over a dog bed or two on the way, to this bright sunny room which is the “heart” of my home. During this holiday season I’m paying special attention to my pet family so I thought it would be fun to create a photo wreath with their pictures. When I shared this idea with my staff they insisted I share it with you. Using a traditional evergreen holiday wreath as the base, create the perfect holiday decoration celebrating your pet family. |
The directions are simple:
- Choose any size evergreen wreath (real or artificial, approximately 18-30 inches) and 5-7 yards of ribbon 1.5” wide.
- Tie beautiful bows with several tails around the wreath.
- Download pictures of your pets from your computer or use existing prints.
- To give the images a similar look, mount the photos on decorative paper all cut tothe same size.
- Alternate photos and dog bones around the wreath. I used a thinner ribbon totie the photos and dog bones which created a nice contrast.
