In The Mood
October 2006
Traveling to Italy this summer to visit a number of architect Andrea Palladio’s masterpieces left me ruminating about quality and the origin of the objects we surround ourselves with. I have collected antiques for years and have always had a deep appreciation for pieces with an interesting genesis or back-story. This month, I’m including an essay about this passion as well as tips for mixing fresh floral elements with faux pieces to create beautiful and long-lasting arrangements.

Of course pumpkin season is in full swing, so I want to share with you one of my favorite fall recipes and show you how I’ve given jack-o’-lanterns a new look. The Halloween story is an excerpt from my new book
A Passion for Parties. I hope you enjoy it and feel inspired.

A Passion for Quality
Ponder the importance of artisans and age-old traditions.

Pumpkin Ravioli
Savor a taste of fall with curry and spice and everything nice.

Mix It Up
Marry fresh and faux elements to create stunning arrangements.

Spookey Soir?©e
Go beyond black and orange this Halloween.

Excellence Found
Italy has always inspired me. On my recent trip I salute the work of Andrea Palladio.
