When you have three ladies of a certain age who have experienced the ups
and downs of long lives but still giggle together
like teenagers, you know that these strong women really do deserve the
title "the golden girls". When my mother, aunt, and my "belle-mére" visited me for Thanksgiving I put them to work. Not such an easy thing
to do when you have three willful and independent women who do not want
to be bossed around by yours truly! We made bowls and bowls of Mittie
Ann’s pecans, which are so easy and quick to make, and above all else
they are simply delicious. On one of my appearances on Oprah we made
these pecans for the entire audience and the crew and they were a huge
success. Package the pecans in different ways. It is a lovely way to
give as a gift within a gift as we have here in our crystal mini ice
bucket, a tiny basket, a chic horn bowl or in one of our party favor
pillows.

Pillow
Package pecans in a cello bag inserted in a pillow box. The
perfect table favor when finished with a beautiful ribbon and tag.

I keep several of these baskets filled with pecans on a tray at the front door,
ready to share with friends and neighbors as they stop to say hello during the holidays.
