Left: Packaged in lilac boxes to match your theme, silver dragée candies are a delicious and eye-catching reception favor. Right: Petit fours or a small piece of groom’s cake make a lovely send-home gift. Below: Available in two sizes, these pillow boxes are a great choice. Use the smaller for individual favors and the larger to stash disposable cameras for each table.

As for what to stash inside, there are many wonderful options. Groom’s cake is one of my favorite traditions, which dates back to the 17th century. Cut and boxed for guests to take home as a favor, lore has it that if a single woman places it under her pillow that night she will dream of her future husband. Chocolate truffles or Dragées are both tasty treats to give. And if you’re going for the extravagant, sterling silver heart charms or mini Revere bowls makes and over-the-top statement.

From a table-decorating standpoint, think of your favor boxes as the perfect pendant for each place setting (be it a wedding or birthday party, special dinner or holiday gathering). You wouldn’t leave the house in your fancy party dress without the perfect bauble to adorn your décolletages, now would you?
